Math Bulletin Board

I chose this Bulletin Board because I was impressed by the design and the creativity that went into making this board. The colors used in the board are easy to read, and go along with the Fall theme. The bulletin board is easy to read and has a lot of great math facts on the board. The board is also very cultural. It is unlikely to see two different ethnic groups displayed on a bulletin board and I thought that the creators of this board did an excellent job of included diversity into their board. The only downfall to this board is that the math facts are written farely small, therefore whoever is reading the board would have to be very close in order to see what the math facts said. Overall, I was impressed by this bulletin board! I think that the colors are very professional as well as easy to read, and I also like the fact that the board is diverse. This is a board that would brighten up any classroom!

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

I choose this bulletin board because I think it was well put together. It has a good boarder and big letters for the class to be able to see clearly. The book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is a popular children's book. The children will be able to relate to the board and learning the alphabet is very important for children to learn at a young age. I really like how the trunk of the tree and the coconuts are 3D, it creates a more realistic looking tree image. I think that there isn't to much going on in the picture which makes its appearance better. Another big thing that i liked about this board is that it looks almost identical to the book itself. The board of the book is the same say as the boader on the bulletin board. Overall, I really liked this bulletin board and the meaning that it is trying to get across to the viewers.

Bulletin Board

I chose to do this board because I saw it in one of the classrooms in McKay. I really liked the idea of the bulletin board, having the entire board deal with verbs. There was alot about this board that makes it great to have in the classroom, but I also think there are a few things that would make it better. A few things that I think this board could do to make it better is to have the verbs written bigger. It's hard to see on the picture, but on each of the birds there is a verb. Its easy to read them from a few feet away, but once you started to walk farther away, you couldn't read the words. Also, the title should be mixed casing. What I think makes this bulletin board good is that it is one basic idea and it is simple. There is not a lot of color to it and only has a few main colors. I really like the rainbow too, because it is made from paper linked chains. Overall, I think this bulletin board would be good to have in the classroom.

Bulletin Board

I decided to do this bulletin board because as I walked by it, I noticed a couple minor things wrong. I like the idea of the globe and multi-culture. First, I really liked the title of the board. I feel that the pink font should be green because there are more than three colors on the board. That way there would not be that many different colors. The bulletin board followed a couple of guidelines. It did a good job of relating color to the subject. Land on the globe is green and the water is blue. I also thought that framing the books was a good idea. The board is framed in a nice color border that goes along with the multi-culture theme. When I looked closely at the board, I noticed that the frames around the books are cut unevenly. I would not have used a purple background for this board. I think using white would have made the board "pop". I feel there are too many books on the board. It seems a little cluttered. It would have been a good idea to enlarge the books and maybe not use as many on the board. The globe should be round instead of oval, but that is a minor problem. Some of the books are slanted. Overall, the board provides an information picture of many of the books that can be found in the Multi-culture center. The board can easily be fixed to fit the visual media guidelines.

Bulletin Board

I chose to capture this bulletin board because I think it is an example of what not to do. The bulletin board is pictured in my dorm and talks about recycling. I know recycling is a major problem on our campus and it is an issue that should be addressed, so I think this board could have been really effective. Unfortunately, there is a lot wrong with the board.
Looking at the five guiding principals, it is true that there is one basic idea, but the organization, legibility, visual balance, and simplicity were not strong. The very first problem that popped out to me was the use of text. The text was impossible to read from a few feet away and all of the blurps were slanted. The information was interesting, but by walking past quickly, I had no clue what it said. If anything else, the information should have at least mean mounted on another sheet of paper to emphasize the words.
The organization and visual balance of the bulletin board was disturbing. I didn't seem to feel any coherence between the pictures and there was too much space in between everything. It was really disconnected. The use of colors was also hard to handle. Three colors should be used at most, but this person used several. This was not my main problem, however. If you look at the sun, you may notice that you can barely see it. The background hid the face.
All together I was disapointed with the bulletin board. It had potential to be effective, but failed in the end for many reasons.
